SPORTY’S LAUNCHES SECOND AEROBATICS COURSE WITH PATTY WAGSTAFF

Covers the fundamentals of loops, rolls and spins

Five months after announcing a partnership to develop online aerobatics training, Sporty’s and Patty Wagstaff have introduced a second course, Basic Aerobatics. This detailed course is a great complement to in-airplane training and explores three essential aerobatic maneuvers in all their varieties: loops, rolls, and spins.

In Basic Aerobatics, viewers go flying in a Super Decathlon over the beautiful beaches of St. Augustine, Florida, for a detailed look at everything from basic loops to hesitation rolls. Wagstaff explains every maneuver step-by-step, complete with sophisticated animations, and tips for better technique. She also answers frequently asked questions and provides solutions to common errors.

Basic Aerobatics with Patty Wagstaff [#E905A] is available for $99.99. Volume 1 in the series, Intro to Aerobatics [#E312A], is available for $49.99, and both courses can be purchased as a bundle [#E936A] for $129.99.

ARE YOU IMPROVING AS A PILOT?

From Sporty’s Student Pilot News

by Eric Radtke

Learning anything new is good for your brain. Whether it’s a new language, hobby or instrument, learning new skills stimulates neurons in your brain which form more neural pathways and helps improve all cognitive tasks.

In the spirit of learning new things, among my most enjoyable responsibilities at Sporty’s is piloting our corporate Cessna Citation SII (S550). Because it’s a turbojet airplane, it requires a type rating to serve as PIC and is certified for a two-person crew. The Citation can carry eight passengers up to about 2,000 miles and cruises about 400mph.  It’s powered by Pratt & Whitney JT15D-4B engines providing 2,500 pounds of thrust each.

Jets require pilot-in-command (PIC) proficiency checks annually (61.58). Many airlines, as well as charter and fractional operators, employ alternate training programs that satisfy the same proficiency requirement. Other stand-alone corporate flight departments utilize well-known training organizations that specialize in jet training for both initial, type-rating training and ongoing proficiency training. Most of these training organizations utilize full motion flight simulators and are certified as FAR Part 142 training centers.
