Pilot experiences from Sporty’s make the perfect adventure gift
Give the ultimate adventure gift this Christmas – the gift of flight through Sporty’s Academy at the Clermont County Airport. A pilot experience from Sporty’s is perfect for the person you know who may be considering learning to fly, has always wanted to fly or for that someone who’s just tough to shop for.
Pilot experiences begin at just $125 for an Introductory Flight that includes 30 minutes at the controls of a Cessna Skyhawk and a full hour with a Sporty’s Certified Flight Instructor. All of Sporty’s flight experiences include a host of souvenir items from the day’s events including a personal logbook with the flight officially logged as well as a first flight certificate and plenty of photo opportunities.
These special flights are handsomely packaged so there will be something very nice to open. The package also includes all of the information needed to redeem which can be done anytime of year.
VFR chart updates to coincide with IFR chart publications
The FAA is transitioning to a 56-day publication schedule for VFR charts early next year to coincide with other chart publication cycles. The new schedule begins February 25, 2021 for all sectional charts, terminal area charts, flyway charts, and helicopter route charts.
The FAA expects the change to result in significant reductions of chart-related NOTAMS since new information will be added to charts more quickly. Also, as a result, the Chart Bulletins contained in the Chart Supplement (A/FD) will no longer be published.
The winter flying season is officially here, which means we have a new set of challenges to deal with while flying in sub-freezing temperatures. Flight training doesn’t need to stop in the winter though; in fact, the colder months provide some great opportunities to expand your knowledge on weather and aircraft operations in less-than-ideal conditions. There are other benefits too, including improved aircraft performance and nearly unlimited visibility on clear days.
Here are some winter weather tips to consider as the temperature gets colder:
